The Department of Highways (DOH) is to hold a seminar for pre-tender announcement and invite private sector to participate in the Public Private Partnerships (PPP) for Operation and Maintenance (O&M) of Bang Pa-in – Nakhon Ratchasima Intercity Motorway (M6) and Bang Yai – Kanchanaburi Intercity Motorway (M81)
The seminar, scheduled on January 31st, 2018 from 08:30 am. to 04:00 pm at the InterContinental Bangkok Hotel, will present to potential investors the key features of both PPP projects, and to gather comments and suggestions from the floor.

Feedback from the meeting will be considered by the selection committees, before the request for proposal is concluded. The official tendering process will be announced in February.
All interested international and domestic participants are welcomed to the seminar, including investors with experience in infrastructure management, those with knowledge of transport systems technology, construction firms, financial institutions, financial and legal consultants, as well as concerned government agencies. Interested public is also welcome to attend.

Investment in the projects will be PPP Gross Cost, which the private investor will be responsible for two stages of work. In the first stage, the DOH will provide land and civil work construction, while the private investor is responsible for the design and construction of the motorway utilities and related systems, such as toll collection system, traffic control surveillance and management system, communication systems, etc. In the second stage, the private investor involves operation and maintenance tasks for both the civil work completed by the DOH and the utilities developed by the private investors themselves. All the toll-related revenues will go to public sector while the private investors will be compensated for facilities and systems investment, apart from availability payment for operation and maintenance.
The 196 km long Bang Pa-in – Nakhon Ratchasima Intercity Motorway (M6) will feature nine toll plazas for manual and electronic toll collection (ETC). These are named for their locations: Bang Pa-in, Wang Noi, Hin Kong, Saraburi, Kaeng Koi, Muak Lek, Pak Chong, Si Khieu, and Nakhon Ratchasima.

The Thai Cabinet on August 22, 2017 passed a resolution to assign DOH and a Selection Committee pursuant to Section 35 of the Private Sector Participation in State Undertakings, B.E. 2556 to invite private sector investment in the O&M package of the Bang Pa-in – Nakhon Ratchasima and Bang Yai – Kanchanaburi Motorway projects.
